About Lexapro
Product Description Lexapro (escitalopram) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant supplied as 20 mg white, round, film-coated tablets scored on one side and marked with “20” on the other. Each box contains 14 tablets in a blister pack. Escitalopram is the S-enantiomer of citalopram, offering high selectivity for serotonin reuptake inhibition with minimal effect on other neurotransmitters. It is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults and adolescents (12–17 years for MDD). The usual starting dose is 10 mg once daily, increased to 20 mg if needed after at least one week. Lexapro can be taken morning or evening, with or without food. Steady-state plasma levels are achieved in about 7–10 days.
