About Effexor
Product Description Effexor XR (venlafaxine hydrochloride extended-release capsules) is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) antidepressant formulated for once-daily dosing. Each 150 mg capsule contains peach-colored pellets in a dark orange cap/white body capsule printed with “W” and “Effexor XR 150” in red. This bottle contains 30 capsules. Venlafaxine inhibits reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine (and weakly dopamine at higher doses), providing dual-action mood stabilization. It is FDA-approved for major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and panic disorder (PD) in adults. The usual starting dose is 75 mg once daily, increased in 75 mg increments every ≥4 days to a maximum of 225 mg/day (or 375 mg/day in severe cases).
